Smallish asks Lisa Faulkner, the actress and author of From Mother to Mother, what matters to her most.
Who inspires you?
My mother and sister. We’ve always passed recipes between us as a family, but when I’d get together with friends, I noticed meal planning was something a lot of mothers struggle with. It’s challenging finding recipes every day that aren’t too ‘cheffy’ or need exotic ingredients. I wanted to share my family favourites on a grander scale.
What are you enjoying at the moment?
The Forgetting Time by Sharon Guskin. It’s about reincarnation, which I find fascinating.
Where is your dream getaway?
Mauritius comes close, but my escape is spending time with my family, cooking and eating. Home is my favourite place in the world. There’s nothing like being in the kitchen with my daughter and everybody chatting.
What are you coveting this season?
The marble cocktail trolley from Oliver Bonas – I have the perfect spot for it in our new house. Also, gold cutlery (or almost anything) from Anthropologie. Oh, and world peace!
Tell us your guilty pleasure…
Coffee Mate and Kraft Cheese Singles.
What do you want to achieve this year?
I hope that people enjoy my book (£20, Simon & Schuster) and I want to keep cooking, writing recipes and doing more yoga! Lots of new things are on the horizon.
