If your fantasy family weekend involves fun, adventure and cultural pursuits but the reality is more laundry, exhaustion and Paw Patrol, Culture 24’s Museums at Night festival this weekend (26–28 October) might be just the ticket.
The UK-wide event sees art galleries and museums across the country throw open their doors for a spot of cultural after hours action. There are workshops and social events for grown-ups (astronomy sessions, ghost tours, film nights and silent discos) and plenty of interactive after-dark fun for families too.
Try a spooky science party in Sunderland, a Tim Peake sleepover in Chichester, a dragon hunt in Newbury, lantern making in Scarborough or a spooky narrowboat trip in London. And there’s plenty more where that came from. Check out the rest of the events on offer across the UK here.
Torchlight, adventure and staying up late: a great way to celebrate the end of half term and turn even the most reluctant child into a culture aficionado.
