Drum roll, please. The Smallish Design Awards 2018 are back. We quiz #SDA18 judge Jakki Jones on quirky keepsakes, parenting inspo, and what she’ll be looking for in an award-winning brand.
ALL ABOUT YOU: Jakki Jones, Director of Talent and Influencer Relations at PMK*BNC
LIVES: Fulham, London
CHILDREN: Two step-daughters, Bootsy, 13, and Misty, 11, and daughter Riley, two
How do you start the day?
With a large glass of water and lemon, followed by a coffee.
What was your favourite childhood toy?
A brown teddy, which I have now handed down to Riley.
What childhood keepsakes can’t you bear to part with?
Right now, I can’t seem to part with anything. I’m so sentimental about everything and am hoarding everything. Rather than dumping all of Riley’s baby clothes, I had them made into a patchwork quilt, and currently every piece of art she has made is now being turned into a coffee table book by Doodle Nest.
Your children have friends over for tea… what’s on the menu?
Spaghetti and meatballs is a winner.
The best gift you received as a new mother?
My Tiba + Marl maternity bag and my Bugaboo Bee.
Who are your parenting inspirations?
My mum and dad; Mary and John Healy.
Favourite family travel destination?
What’s the best thing about being a parent?
The love and excitement you feel each day.
What do you wish you could tell all first-time expectant mothers?
You are about to experience the best time of your life… but remember, sleep when that bambino sleeps!
Tell us a secret about you
I was sacked by my driving instructor for being so bad. Needless to say, I still don’t drive to this day.
What are you looking for in a Smallish Design Awards product/brand?
I am looking forward to discovering new brands that I not only love from a design perspective, but that I also can’t see myself living without.
